WinHiip (1.76) Issue with DVD9 and Fragmented Space...
WinHiip (1.76) Issue with DVD9 and Fragmented Space... –
Well my 200Gb HDD was Full, I deleted stuff so there's 20Gb left (but those are stated as free fragmented space of course)...
and neither GoW2 or Wild Arms AF can be installed, because I get a space issue error... (DVD5 games seem to work fine..)
any ideas ?
(I could back up my HDD, Format, and copy evrything again...but I'm really too lazy for that...plus I don't have nearly enouth free space on my PC)
I had the same problem when installing d9 games with fragmented free space. I used hdl 0.8b and winHiip 1.76, so I use hdldumb to install the d9 game, it works for me and I could still use winhiip 1.76 to install other d5 games with no problem after that.
thanks for the hint
To install DVD9 games in fragmented space, you need to have the last partitions consecutive at the end of the drive totaling 8GBs, you can run the scan in winhiip and it will show the last games installed and how much space is at the end of the drive.
You may need to delete the last few games to aquire the 8Gb for the DVD9 installs. You can install DVD5 in any fragmented space.
Winhiip will install any game under 4GB in these fragments in non-connecting blocks, but after 4GBs, the rest of a DVD9 would need the remaining 4GBs of blocks connected.
Hope that helped.

i noticed this problem, especially with rogue galaxy. and after i delete the game, i was hit for like 4,5 gigs of unragmented.
my tip, if i got any fragmented space, i use hdldump to instal the game. viola!

No such thing as a HDD defragmenter for the ps2?
unfortunately no, since ps2 hdd partition are in 128MB blocks.
I installed GoW2 DVD9 in fragmented space using winhiip and it worked like a charm, no problems whatsoever
