I've seen Linux for the PS2, and was wondering if you could get Windows XP (Or 2000. ME etc.) for the PS2? I'm thinking NOT, because of processor incompatibilities and the like.
Also, can you get Linux on your PS2 without buying the Linux pack? I'm a little strapped for cash at the mo, and want to see linux on a PS2 for myself. And maybe play some linux games :chinscrat
Anyways, if you know an answer to either of these Q's, lemme know :D

As for Linux..its out of circulation. I think there was a version of BlackRhino made free on the net that could run on the PS2 but I'm not a Linux person so I never seeked much information out on such possibilities.
I think with BlakRhino, you still needed to boot from the linux disc initially I'm not entirely sure. You can still acquire it through illegal means easily enough though.
"Illegal" is my middle name :P. I'll have a look for Bla(c)k rhino when I get Broadband (Which is coming soon. Yaay!). So I just need to have black rhino and a USB keyboard / Mouse?
Does anyone know about how to go about putting this il(legal) copy of linux onto my HDD?
I asked about WinXP, coz I thought MAYBE it could run doom3 or something, with the PS2 being so graphics orientated. nm tho. Linux still rocks hardcore! Thanks a lot for replying!
The PS2 doesn't do pixel shaders or OpenGL. The odds of something like Doom3 running even remotely well even if you could somehow pull off 100% speed emulation (0% chance of it happening) would be somewhere in the negative numbers.
As for PS2 Linux, it won't work off a TV. You need the special monitor cable that came with the Linux kit and a sync-on-green monitor, IIRC. It also uses a different partitioning scheme, so you won't be able to use the same HD for HDLoader gaming and Linux.
Damn. oh well. I got myself an MP3 player for the PS2. That should keep me entertained for about... 30 seconds or so. Thanks anyway Zylyx
