Where can i get the PS2 hard-drive? I've been looking for a while and i cant find one. Please Help

You should be able to buy one at any store that sells PS2 hardware (Walmart, Costco, Fry's, Best Buy, EB, etc.). It's in a big white box with Final Fantasy XI being featured on the label instead of the HDD. In North America the HDD is only sold bundled with FFXI, since the Linux Kit was discontinued a while ago. Also, it seems SCEA has cut back, if not stopped entirely, on shipments of HDDs since the release of the new model.

so theres no way i can get one without buying the final fantasty bundle? The F.F. bundle come with a 40 gig hard drive, how do people get one that are bigger? like i see people got 80 gig ones and stuff. Im looking to get one really soon, please help

what kind of modifications do you need to make to your system and/or the computer hard drive before you can put it in the PS2? Do all computer hard drives work? And is there anything i should know about it before trying to do it? Any sites i could look at for more info? thanks

no modifications needed, buy a maxtor hard drive (almost all models work) then you need a program to format your hard drive (dms hd tool, hd loader, hd advance etc...)
check out newegg.com for good deals and/or tigerdirect.com they have cheap hard drives

Also Seagate works as well. Only one that seems to have problems is the Western Digital HDDs, some don't seem to fit with the NA and require special modifications to get them to fit. Try :

how do i format the hard drive? im sorry about all the questions its just that im new to all this kind of stuff. Where can i get the program i need? Also, when i get my HDD, can i burn games right to it? How does that work and how do u do it?
