I have my hard drive in my ps2 network adapter. What do I do next to save games to the hard drive?

Do you have a modchip, or some other way of booting the homebrew HDLoader? If not, did you purchase a retail copy of HDAdvance? The tetail version is no better than the homebrew version, but it is an option.
Once you've got HDLoader up and running, the next step is to get some games on that drive. The easiest way would probably be to use WinHIIP and connect your hard drive directly to your PC. You can then copy either original PS2 games, or ISO images onto your drive.
I don't have a modchip, but i do know how to do a slide card exploit, if that'll help. and all i would do is get this hdloader and burn it to a cd? and is it possible for you to maybe give some clues on where to get this homebrew hdloader?
I'm hesitating a little because I don't know if the rules forbit links to this site... but http://www.sksapps.com should have everything you need. It's far better for your PS2 if you can install the HDLoader on your memory card than boot it from CD though.
Okay, I figured out that i had to format the drive to ps2 format. I did this with winhiip. when i did it, it said something about having hdloader put in the hard drive as well? anyway, after i formated it and put the required iso into it, and now i dont know what comes next. When i turn the ps2 on, i was expecting a bit screen that said HDLOADER to appear, but nothing. The playstation itself doesnt even recognize the hard drive as data in the browser screen
You need to boot up HDLoader. To boot up directly from the HD or from a Memory Card, you'd need a modchip which does DEV1 (MC) or DEV2 (HD) boot.
Since you don't own one, you need to load up HDLoader (or HDAdvance) from the CD/DVD drive when you turn on the PS2 (via a backup using the slide card xploit, or just buy a pressed HDAdvance). An unmodded PS2 won't boot from memory card or HD, just from an original (not copied) CD/DVD drive.
you can also use the explot in which you need a ps1 game a codebreaker disc (or simular) and a flash drive. You then download the independance compiler, (which you can get from the site mentioned above) ulaunchelf, hdloder, ect. then you run the independance compiler and follow the instructions. You then put the save game that was created on your flsh drive and transfer it to your memory card with Codebreaker (or simular) and you will be ready. You just have to boot the ps2 up with the ps1 disc that you used with the independance compiler and you will ge to ulaunchelf and can configure it to run programs like hdloader.
If you want a better tutorial there are good ones out there.
