what brand of cd-rw works?
what brand of cd-rw works? –
Hi there folks, i've wasted about a 20 or so cdr's just trying to install the exploit, anyways, after i finally got it working, i got into the habit of changing my wallpaper on it over and over again. As you can probably guess, i'm running out of cd-rs.
The one time i tried using a CD-RW, it spun ridiculously fast and sounded kinda scary. I just assumed they didn't work, but after reading a few posts i realized that people are actually using CD-RWs.
So i was just wondering what brand you all recommend (or don't recommend) because i'm fully convinced that Sony brand CD-RWs will kill your PS2 (go figure). Also, i have a v3 if it matters.
what type of modchip do you have? if you are using a swap magic make sure you are pressing square to boot for special boot. i can use the cheapest cd-r's in the world and they work fine in my V5. Now DVD-r's are a different matter. About sony cd's. I use them all the time and i think they read just as well as Verbatim. Both cd-r and dvd-r.
i don't use a mod chip, just swap magic. i've never had a problem with cd-r's, just cd-RW's... is special boot for cd-rw's though?
no special boot is for problematic games. ex...hdloader or ARmax and alot of ea rips. also what version of swap magic are you using?
lol leidout dont bother using the cd exploit installation since it wastes both money and brings you frustration. just make an execftps CD, load it up, fire up flashfxp and you are ready to go. it lets you transfer files from your pc directly to ps2 MC so no need for exploit cds all the time.
btw ps2 isnt very good at ready RW media so if youre lucky then maybe. otherwise if it wont read 1, not a good chance it read others.
yeah likie bladezero said. not many systems will read cd-rw. you are lucky if it does. cd-rw discs are hard to read by any reader. they put strain on the laser and we all know that the ps2's laser isnt that great to begin with. so cd-rw will in most cases kill your laser faster

ok thanks for the input, i just got used to using the cd exploit, i guess i'll work at the ftp thing now.
note to self: "cd-rws kill lasers" (:
they do not kill the laser. they put strain on them. but i guess with extended use you could consider that killing it
