hi guys.......i was wondering if it is possible that i put my hard drive in an external hard drive box, and then connect this box to my ps2 through the USB connection....can i still use HDL dump to send games to my ps2 from my pc now ??? or is hdl dump only meant to work when the hard drive is directly connected to the ps2 ....

I don't know for sure but hdl_dump relies on Windows to inform it as to whats connected. Windows will count that USB drive as a hdd... it should work... besides that I have heard of people using hdl_dump with USB drives.
    My system:
    v7 NTSC PS2 Duo2 SE

hdl_dump is "known" to work fine with external USB drives on Windows XP (and maybe Windows 2000) and Linux.

If you're connecting it to the PS2 via USB, wouldn't it just be easier to connect it to your PC via USB also and use WinHIIP? Just a thought...

i connect my HD to a firewire/usb2 connection and it detects it both. its much better than constantly opening up my case. My question is which is a better program...WinHIIP or HDL_Dumb

I don't think we are answering the dude's question but...

Win HIIP is way better IMO if all you are dealing with is sending games.

I will never care about networking and sending stuff using slow buggy lan speed support. usb 2.0 external enclosure or usb 2.0 to ide cable + win hiip is the best way to go. Nice speed plus don't have to open pc case. Don't listen to the silly people... the network adapter will never wear out just be careful when remove and attach it. I done it 100's of time maybe more and I am not lucky.

Plus the author of the product is constantly working on it and adding features and he's easily reachable to answer questions. Plus it has a nice stable GUI that don't have to be compiled separately i.e. the whole product comes as one unit you don't have to waste time with buggy 3rd party devs throwing on a gui. It has 48 bit hdd support and never fried any of my bigger than 200gb drives and i constantly remove and add games to them. Note: I never use hdloader to add or remove games. Also can put orginal dvd in pc and win hiip can handle that too.

The author will also be adding disk management and repair type features soon capable of analyzing your partitions or whole drive and fixing errors. Also he will be adding ability to add and remove adhoc partitions, non hdloader partitions, no more silly elfs needed for that.

So tell me something about this hdl_dump!!!! lol !!!!

3)say if i am tranferring an ISO using winhiip and the power breaks down....will my games be deleted ??

you gonna have to find it yourself the admin thinks the app's is a pile of dog shit.

I'm getting 10mb/sec-12mb/sec with usb 2.0 a dvd takes something like 6-8 minutes shrinked games even less. new version is soon when the guys ready most of the features are in his dev environment already just doing testing.

Well... hdl_dump/hdl_dumb sources are available. If you don't like it, then fix it :-)
