    I know one can use some adaptor that allow USB2 to IDE transfer of your HD. I bought one, have yet to use it. One question is, what is a good position to place the HD, since its outside and vulnerable? Its convenince since you need not open up the PC, but d you just leave the HD on the floor? Face up? Down?

    The next question is my USB2-IDE adaptor state to put as master drive. So i put as master drive, even if my PC HD is already the master?

    Sorry me am anoob with HDD tweaking.

    Another question, im confused. Can we boot HDL without ANY disc for those without programmable modchips like DMS3 etc.

    I searched, it seem a little confused. You can add HDL to the HD and boot with Launcher ELF right? So speaking, you do not need PS1 disc at all?

    I am using old Messiah modchip.

    Thank for any help before i start installing once my NA arrives.

    u dont need a ps1 disc if u have a mod chip
    all u need is the hdloader.elf and then make a notepad .cnf file to tell the ps2 to boot this hdloader.elf.... search the site and you'll find it.
    NEW , v4 mobo , 400-C laser , Matrix infinity chip ,
    modded with 2 windows and painted white.
    ps2 , V4 , unmodded. (SOLD )
    ps2 v7 with Messiah 2 chip...(Died )

    currently using , infinity manager ,hdd utility tools so i can save games to HD via the brower ,HDloader ,
    ps2menu-k w/ 160GB HD, and networked to PC for game transfers , and media player. damn i love my set up , thanks for the install THINKDIFF <done bussiness with him twice so far and the Mod installs are perfect. (highly recommend if your in NY)

    Projects:
    1.modded memory card with big ass blue LED: done
    (check forum for pics)
    2.just finished the door bell mod , can reset my ps2 from 100ft away (wireless)... just makes me happy!

    looking to start another project, holla at me if u got any ideas..

    and dude, why the hell would u leave a hard drive on the floor anyway?... get an encloser for it or make a box so that u can sit it in... liek a small woden box with a hinged top so that when u wanna put it in your pc... u just flip open the door and see ur hard drive....if u leave it on the floor and have a rolling chair cloose... or carpet ... yoru gonna be assed out by electro ststic... i dont recommend u leave it naked unless u have money to buy a couple.

    Searched again for ".cnf" no go.
    Any idea how please give a rough guide.

    Haha my HD is planned to temp leave outside because need to connect to PC via USB2 adaptor. The adaptor is just a simple IDE-USB2 cable with power supply. Well this mean i dont need to open up PC and connect HD to motherboard but also mean i need to find a source to house it.

    just get some antistatic.. slide your hdd in with the io side towards the exit of the packet. then plug in your usb convertor to the io / power, then tape it all up.

    p.s., orientation wise, hdds these days don't mind being in any particular position. however, if i were you, i would keep it in the same position for the data's life.

    ok! loaded my mc with hdloader and ps2menu v31!

    now waiting for my NA. So i just save my hdl over to HD and delete it from menuk right? Any other config i must add in?

    Those other files like ipconfig, ip, link, are those neccessary?

    Yes, i have thought of same suggestion too. My HDD will put into static bags that come with my motherboard. thank goodness i never throw them away. But do u think i need to elevate the underside slightly?

    Umm... how long you plan on having it plugged into the PC for and/or how often?

    You really don't need to worry to much about the drive... as long as it's in the open air... It won't overheat... place the drive anywhere as long as the circuit board faces up on a conductive surface (if on a metal surface like your PC case) or down on a nonconductive surface.

    HDD are much more robust than they used to be..... If you do place it in a bad make sure it isn't getting too hot... Heat distorts the discs... reading and writing can become iffy.

    Esp! I found your old post!

    ok, well im guessing that your modded ps2 does play back ups , correct?
    if it does then your mod chip works , then all u need is the .elf file.
    now what exacly do u wanan run? just HDLOADER? or ps2 menu , HDloader and other apps?

    if u have the ps2menu.elf and hdloader.elf
    put those on a cd with a notepad document . inside the notepad document , copy and paste this to the notepad:

    BOOT2 = cdrom0:\PS2MENU.ELF;1
    VER = 1.00
    VMODE = NTSC

    WHEN U GO TO SAVE THIS NOTEPAD
    SAVE IT AS: SYSTEM.CNF

    AS A MATTER AFACT , HERE , IVE DONE IT FOR U , JUST DOWNLOAD THIS NOTEPAD DOC. , PUT IT ON A CD WITH HDLOADER.ELF AND AND PS2MENU.ELF

    ONLY NEED THE 3 FILES ON THE CD-R.

    IT WILL START WITH PS2 MENU , FROM THERE , PRESS R1 , seclect MC , then if u did install the hdloader exploit , u shoudl see teh hdloader.elf... if not , press R1 again and go to CD , and run hdloader.elf from the cd.

    this should work perfectly.
    Hmm more understanding, it seem usless for messiah 1 to boot without any disc at all. I still need either psx or cdr to go to menu. suck.

    at least with menuk, think i can save some mc space. hope to transfer elf to hdd.

    it will be out as long as i need to USB2-IDE transfer my stuffs from PC. else it will be staying in the Ps2.
    dang i wish the FTP speed can be improved with newer versions.
