First a hello to all you people out there, I have been reading these forums for a long time, but have never really posted much

You guys have inspired me to exploit my ps2 and the hdd and I've spent the past three days trying to get all this to work. My main problem I've encountered is that I am completely unable to transfer to my ps2 by ftp. i've tried it with two different routers and using a crossover cable as well, with the same results every time. My ftp client will connect to the ps2 ftp server fine, I'll be able to view all the files and directories (although I had some trouble doing this in flashfxp at first) and I can download from my ps2 to my pc with no problems at all. However, if I want to transfer from my pc to my ps2, it simply won't let me. It'll try and transfer, but won't move off 0% and eventually the transfer fails.

The story is also a similair one when I try and transfer games using hdl_dumb/dump and also with faplink. I'll try and transfer the game, it sometimes starts to transfer, but it always fails at some point. I know my hard drive is okay because I am able to transfer fine when I hook it up to my pc and use Winhiip.

This makes it very hard to get things to work properly. I think i'm quite lucky that I managed to get an exploit cd working that transfer the files from the cd to my mem card, but I really would like to transfer files to my hard drive and not have to burn a new cd everytime I want to change one tiny file

I've tried pretty much everything I can, google, searching many different forums, trying out different equipment, but all of that has been to no avail

Any help you guys can provide me will be greatly appreciated

    Thanks

    Parag

You have to use the MNT command in FlasXP (Ctrl+R) before to send files.
When you said that you have troubles to see the files in Flashxp, which was the problem? I ask you since i was not able to se anything in the PS2 windows whe the FlasXp connect to the PS2.

    bye

Also if you are using EXEcFTP you should try the new version of uLaunch Elf.... It will now transfer FTP... and you can mount the partitions from the PS2 side as well....

also with FlashFXP make sure that the use passive mode is turned off....

I don't think it was a problem with the MNT command, as it still didn't work with that, and the problem with seeing the files was fixed by flushing the directory cache in FXP.

    I'll have a try with this ulaunchELF jobby, but I'm not hopeful, as not even Inklink/Ps2link seem to want to transfer data over the network now ;_;

I ended up just using my iriver as a USB mass storage device and transfer from pc to that and then to ps2 and mem card using ps2os for those having trouble.

    Cheers for the replies guys.

Did you configrue the CONFIG.DAT (this might be differently named on some ELF's) to the correct IP?

if using a router try this

    192.168.1.10 255.255.255.0 192.168.1.1

Then run it and when it says ftp is running in port 21 try your ftp client at

    192.168.1.10

    it should work fine.

This is just my opinion I prefer not to use ftp for games it has a tendancy to screw my HDD up and its so damn slow. WinHIIP is all I use for games. FTP only for exchanging my Memory Card HDLoader and save games backups.

    My IP settings are fine.

I can ping my ps2 fine and the fact that I can login shows that the IP is right

well first of all forget about faplink, it fails when you reach a certain size in GB for the game, 1 or 2 gigs i can't remember.

use hdl_srv.elf on the ps2 side and i recommend using LordBigimi's frontend on your pc. Now since you can start transfers, i'm sure your ipconfig.dat is ok or it wouldn't work at all. i would try wiping the drive with dms_format tool and starting fresh. also try swapping network cables and if you're using a router, try connecting straight to the ps2 with a crossover cable.. or try a different router, or update router firmware.

I'm not so keen on formatting my hard drive fresh >_>

Plus, I've done it before and it's been doing this ever since I first got it and have formatted a few times.

Also I have tried just using a crossover and also with a different router.

My next course of action is to try and steal one of my friends' ps2s for a bit

trial version of execftp? I thought it was freeware.

And if you mean the pc ftp client, I have had the same problems with Filezilla, which is a completely free client, as well.
