To be honest, official HDD stuff would never play on a modded system as it's coded specifically to detect changes on the EE and IOP memory.
OPL patches only apply to disc games, I believe.
Now one thing that occurred me is that one would want to install FMCB on the HDD so it boots from it instead of the MC. But then someone would have to donate a official HDD to the dev team so they could make it happen... lol
