Trouble booting backups on official hd
Trouble booting backups on official hd –

Ok, so I went and picked up the hd last month and have had problems booting up backups. By problems I mean that games will load occasionally, most of the time resulting in the dreaded RSOD. I'm not sure what it is that makes it load properly the few times it works and was wondering if anyone has had success with the Messiah 2 Pro and the official hd.

If i am not mistaken, doesnt the sony hdd interfere with the functions of most mod chips? Try unplugging the hdd and see what happens.

It works perfectly but having to disconnect the network adapter everytime is inconvenient and could potentially ruin the connecting pins on the hd. There may not be any other choice though as I haven't been able to find any solutions yet...

I believe the DMS3 can function with the hdd plugged in.

Have you tried a non sony hdd? I have a hitachi hdd plug-ed in all the time and still able to play a copy of karoke rev off the disk.
I had a ps2 v4 with matrix 2. (Gave it to my brother a week ago)

I haven't tried an unofficial drive as I originally intended to play ffxi, though I have since quit playing, deciding to keep the hd instead of reselling it in the hope that some future games might offer hd support. However, if i have to unplug the hd everytime it pretty much rules that out. What I don't understand is why I can sometimes successfully load a game.

A friend of mine had the same problem but with a smartchip. He ended up ripping the chip put of the ps2 and just running his games from the hdd.
