Isn't the O2 the only chip that does the force VGA though? I would really like to see a force 480p mode, this would be far more useful to me, and I suspect for a lot of people as well--with a transcoder you could get VGA without wiring a cable or any potential sync-on-green issues. I have requested this in a few places already.
It's a nice feature... but I rather have a better HDD compatibility...

Yes I think it has the largest EEPROM of the mod chips out there. Does the Matrix (or the O2) have a mode to force 480p? I still think that would be a lot more useful than VGA mode, with the many progressive scan sets available today. With a transcoder you could use it for VGA as well without any other mess.
SOTC works fine without Mode4, Diego. You should know that ^_~

480p is not a component only technology. As I mentioned in another post Endymion it should be trivial to have both, even if is simply an extra option in the modchip's configuration screen rather than autodetecting based on the selected option in the PS2 Browser (component or rgb).Although perhaps they have already tried component 480p, and it has issues I am not aware of that makes it more difficult than 480p RGB (VGA).
BTW you could convert the other way in the meantime to get component 480p, with a RGB > Component converter.
480p is what we know as the component (colour difference) variant. VGA is, well VGA, or rather, RGB at 31KHz. The point is, they are different, and for whatever reason a lot more people have seemed to want VGA rather than 480p. It would be a lot nicer to not have yet another piece of hardware to fiddle with, particularly when dealing with games that can't work in VGA (or 480p), who wants to disconnect the thing just to play? I fully realise that it would not be so difficult to do, but I also know I'm not the one with the ability to program it--which is why I request it, here, at the DMS site, or anywhere else someone might see it who has the know-how of what to do to get it.
If it's so easy why the heck doesn't anybody have it yet? I guess I'll just keep asking til someone manages to program it in some where.
