Switching from WinHIIP to an FTP-based transfer, what should I use? –
I have an unmodded V9 PS2 with memory card exploit running HDL 0.7c (I plan on updating it to the latest patched version), I only had 1 PC before and didn't have a home network, so I installed all my games using WinHIIP in the past by taking the HDD out of the PS2 and putting it in the PC every time I wanted to change something.
But now I have a laptop and a router, and my new room setup makes it very inconveinent to do the HDD swapping method from before every time I want to add or delete games from the HDD... So I want to start using a network-based method to install games to the HDD.
What's the best way to do it now? Speed isn't really a big issue, I care more about stability, and I don't want to risk corrupting my PS2 HDD (it's 200GB and almost full)... Should I use the latest version of HDLDump? Or something else? For what it's worth, I'm also using the latest version of uLaunchElf.
Any help would be greatly appreciated it, thanks.
Use hdl_dump, you should be able to get speeds of ~1.5-2mb\sec depending on your network.
HDL_Dump GUI v1.5
- GUI application that simplifies the use of hdl_dump.
PS2Client Loader v1.3
- GUI application that automates the loading\unloading of PS2Client. Multiple consoles supported.
But isn't there a risk of corrupting my HDD game partitions? I remember it was strongly advised not to use both WinHIIP and HDLDump on the same HDD... Or is that not an issue anymore?
Just get HDL Dumx 0.85 (ie HDLDumb / HDLDump) and it'll work just fine. =) I've installed games via WinHiip, HDLDumx, and just using HDLoader, all 3 of which worked great. ^^
