It will probably be fine
Only a few people are getting formatting requsts, but I wouldn't say it was any more then those who are getting format requests every time they boot it in the same console. If it asks for a format, just power down and remove the drive
I have been able to use two seperate maxtor drives in 3 different ps2's with no problem (v5,v9,v10)
ok i done this this week here is the thing u can take ur hd out and put it in another ps2 BUT don't try to install games or it will delete everything on ur hd and will keep coming up say u need to reformat but when u put it back in the 1st ps2 were u installed ur games at it will work again
So yes u can put it in another ps2 but only to play the games that r on the HD just don't try to install a game
just a note:
HDLoader, in its 'HDLoader Settings' partition has a file called machineid i believe. So using another version ps2 may mess something up in the settings.

Sorry t0n but ash is right... I also used my buddys V1 and V3 PS2 and swaped my HD into them... I also get the agreement screen.. But all games play great.. Plus I can also install new games from my buddys PS2... So Keyonn im sorry about your luck but it seems that I can do every thing on my Buddys PS2's as I can on my V7 PS2 with my HD...
Hmmm funny how where all getting diff proublems using the same software..
By the way im using the Ownz version of HDloader on my V7PS2 on my MC if anyone wants to know...
i didnt say it was true, i said it may. i even italicized it in my post.
sephy1024, two posts above my stated that they used it in multipul versions of ps2. i was merely suggesting that the file is there for some purpose. maybe someone can transfer it to MC, then use ftp to get it onto PC and see whats in the file.
Very good.. I guess I didnt read your post clearlly when I skimmed throu this thread..
Sorry about that t0n!..
