I got it to install and play fine, but after resetting and attempting to load a saved game i get a black screen.
No problems starting a new game, but attempting to load a saved game results in a black screen.![]()
Any ideas?

well konami seems to have found a way to annoy hd loader users, first with metal gear now with suikoden ..
anyway i'l be trying the different date fixes now and see if i can load save games with any of them and report back
if someone else already did this, i would love to get some information about this
hm, for now it seems it doesn't run
I tried it without datepatch, then 1,2,3 all failed
Í tested by going into the "Continue" screen and then going out of it via triangle button. always resulted in black screen
I also tried the different modes 3,2,1 which hd loader offers, in following order
3, 3+2,3+2+1
I haven't tried all combinations there are with normal hd loader modes and datepatches, but it seems to me suikoden needs more "work" by people sophisticated in these matters, please help!
Well it may still be possible that there's a easy solution but considering metal gear, I doubt it.
damn, i was enjoying it too.
c'mon someone hook up a fix for this!
What Metal Gear doesn't work with HDLoader?Originally Posted by Ghaleon
Metal Gear does work with hd loader but some date patches don't work, and resetting is also impossible without some modes/date patches.
It seems they've improved on that and now suikoden is to some extent hdl proof.
I still need to see if i can save with suikoden, but remembering the occasions with metal gear, the game crashed after saving (without proper datepatch) .. so if i do that, it may well mean i need to reboot. which means that from then on i'll be forced to use the DVD, which will thanks to my laser increase loadtimes tenfold.
I assume this will apply to others as well.
Ah oh well i just hope that the xenosaga 2 dudes don't mess up their game to the point of hdl unplayability. Considering what progress in this regard they've made in the beta, its rather likely XS2 will be pretty much unplayable with HDL. Of course it's still possible that all these bugs were just beta bugs .. but i doubt that. The japanese versions of XS2 and Suikoden4 didn't display these shortcomings and hell, it would even explain the delays.

What Metal Gear are you tolking about ??? MGS3 ??? Because, I finished this one two times playing with HDLoader and I never met any issue (and I never patched it or anything else; this is the original version).
I'm also still wondering. I even have a date patch applied to HDL so time/date is stored properly for savegames and I didn't have the slightest problems finishing it on my PS. So far, there are no compatibility issues with MGS3 and MGS2: Substance (if transfered to HD as ISO).
there's a thread about it here somewhere. I had datepatch 3 applied to my hdloader, which incidentially made mgs3 hang up after saving. Because of this i became aware of this issue.
Anyway this isn't about Metal Gear, I only referred to the game because the issue seems similar and the game's from konami, too.
Please if your mgs3 did work fine, don't get worked up about it...
just steering this thread back in it's intended direction...fixing suikoden 4..
