strange things with network game installation

:banghead: i have had it with this crap of hdl_dump and trying to install a game over the network, i have been through many threads and no one has the problem i seem to be having, i can connect, i can read my HDD TOC, i can delete games through network, but then when i go to install it doesnt want to, ok the other night i started an install via network with a 4.2Gb file, majority of people get around 0.8 mbps transfer so with a 4.2Gb file it should take 87 mins approx. i let it run for five hours and according to hdl_dump on the pc side it had only sent 9% which is nothing, what am i doing wrong, its not the ip address because i can connect and delet e and f*cking browse it fine, its stressing me out :banghead:

the only thing i can think of is to maybe try a different cable going to the ps2

just try a gui.. i suggest hdl_dump frontend 1.7
can be found in the forums... it supports network..

otherwise, u can use HDL_Dumb

but slightly diffirent i already uploaded 50% of the iso game on my hd using crosscable and sudden it began to slow like this first is uploading speed was 3mbps then it 0.8mbps then until it reach 53% it went to 0.0mpbs...
so i just cancel it...

does it matter on of what kind u use on ethernet cable.....?
cuz im just using normal ethernet cable...
do u reccommend CAT5 ethernet cable...?

i was happy whn hd dump/b support network but now i cnat even upload a single game to my hd cuz my uploading speed is so damn slow...

i tried multiple types of cables

i thinking that window xp sp2 mess up my networking that it affects my uploading speed.....

SP2 DOES manipulate the number of simultaneous TCP/IP connections to limit it to 8 (vs 65535 i believe) per second... I don't think it'd affect this since the FTP is a single TCP/IP transfer per packet...

also, a cat5/ethernet/network cable are all the same.. the thing you want to figure out is STRAIGHT vs CROSS-OVER.. if you can at least communicate in any way, you're using the correct cable, and don't even worry about it!

Sounds like maybe your cable COULD be too long(losing signal), or bad hardware in between... i've done tons of network installs, and haven't had a single problem..

also, .7-.8MBps is normal/good

well i just went through hell a while back with hdl dump guied and hdl dumb all with no luck ( im dumb) so i would say to pick up winhiip youwill love the trasfer rate and its easy to use. ( winhiip found in this forum)

my ehternet cable is like 7 feet long...
is this affect my uploading speed...

really need help badly cuz i cant even send 1 game to my ps2 hd....
im freaking right now cuz i have 5 games(20 gbs) iso on my pc and only have 30 gb hd onmy pc and want to upload this games to save space on my pc....
hope some one will help me... :(
