Strange problem with Hdloader and Hdadvance
Strange problem with Hdloader and Hdadvance –
11-05-2004,05:37 AM
Hi guys. I've just recently installed a matrix infinity into my V9 pal PS2, running the mod with the 1.35 firmware. Romeo mod is also fitted and works perfectly.
My original intention was to stick an 80Gb drive into the machine, but I've come to a problem, which I'm not to sure on how to deal with.
The HDD I'm using with the Ethernet adaptor is an Excelstor (ibm chipset) J680, which according to the PS2 HDD compatibility chart is fully compatible.
I have used the PS2owns version of free Hdloader, and it will run fine. However, when I go to install, the system just hangs at the "checking CD/DVD" part. It does not continue into the input name section. This happens also with Hdadvance. I always eject the hdloader disk, then put in my original (VF4 btw) and leave it for a few seconds, then press continue. However, no matter what game I use (Primal, ZOE2 all originals) i get the same end result.
When I first run Hdloader, the HDD was formatted without incident. Unfortunately, due to my PC being chock full of HDD (8 of them) the only option I have is to use the install games via disk, as I have read that the ftp transfer is very slow.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have read about the infinity manager, and will be installing this tonight when i get some more CD-R's, but Im not sure 100% on how to go about this.

I'd make sure your install is good. Maybe it isn't re-verifying when you hit eject..have you gone over the install? Had any problems otherwise?

Hi there mate.
I've used hdl_dump to stick on a few iso's from the disks mentioned above, using a usb HDD caddy, and they both worked fine using hdloader. I think that the problem lies with the /c and /s switches with hdloader. I've been reading a lot of threads on the forum, and these are mentioned as possible fixes for the problems, which seem to arise with V9 PS2's.
Just have to read up on the MC exploit now - its all new to me, but kinda fun to learn.
Thanks for the reply.

Well, they say the best way to learn is do. Its what I did with the Xbox's, and Im a dab hand with them, so its back to learning. Just going to get a second PS2 MC so that its a fresh tablet to work with.
