This might be completely irrelevant, but I decided to post it anyway, just in case anyone had a similar experience or if someone know a way to install SOCOM II with HDLoader.

I tried installing a patched .iso of SOCOM II (PAL) and it wouldn't work once installed. At that time, I didn't know it wasn't compatible, so I tried enabling Mode 3. It booted on to the title screen and then the PS2 sort of rebooted and went to the Browser disc menu.

Having seen the title screen make me decide to try more mode combinations, none of which really helped. Then, in the end, I put the game back in mode 3 and I don't have a clue how, but it booted perfectly. I played for a couple of hours with no problems or whatsoever.

Needless to say I haven't managed to boot it ever since. The only thing I remember is that I had changed the memory card for one which still had enough space for saves and that I was moving the joystick and mashing the buttons of the controller the time that the game booted correctly. I don't know if that could have had any influence...

Does anyone have any comments about this?

You do know that there is a HDLoader compatibility list with that kind of info available?

I just didn't have it at hand at the time. What I am trying to point out is that I actually managed to played this installed game, which is reported as incompatible. Other games, like Splinter Cell - Pandora Tomorrow, exhibit the same sort of behavior when booting, so maybe there's a door open for them to work. This game (SOCOM II) might not boot with the current hdloader configuration, but it looks like there is a way to make it work.

I'm sorry but as far as I know, SOCOM II work perfectly with HDLoader except for the online mode since it use DNAS authentification. You might have some problem with your HDD or something.

It looks like the PAL version does not work with HDloader. See http://homepage.ntlworld.com/casey.m...patibility.htm

    Can anyone confirm this?

My PAL-Version of Socom II does not work. But on the other hand I was able to boot it once, too, but never again...

Maybe there is some way to make it boot, but I dont know how. Never tried to convert it to NTSC and never applied the NTSC-Pach either because I do not play it anyways...
