    Aiight peeps,

    First please give me the benefit of the doubt. I have fully searched away and found little bits and pieces of information on this, but as with most things involving PS2 to HD rips, there is still just the mising information that is haunting my failure. I have tried to get the CD loader trick to work with my soul calibur rip (I went to the movie store and rented it and dvd decryptered it to my HD on my PC), but all I get is a pink screen when booting the game (modified to the specs below of course). I believe it's my prep, but I am not sure. The path that led to my "pink screen death" is below.

    to get soul calibur 2 to work with HDLoader

    1 copy contents of soul calibur 2 except the system.cnf file to a folder on your pc

    2 copy cdloader files to same folder. the files you need are:
    system.cnf
    msystem.cnf
    scee_dd - this is a file folder
    fifademo - this is a file folder
    dummy.000
    cd7bet52.elf

    3 using the notepad, edit the system.cnf to say:
    BOOT2 = cdrom0:\CD7BET52.ELF;1
    VER = 1.00
    VMODE = PAL

    4 using the notepad, edit the msystem.cnf to say:
    \SOUL CALIBUR 2\cdrom0:\SLUS_206.43;1

    5 are you newbies still with me? your folder should now look like this:
    dummy.000
    slus_206.43
    bgm.afs
    movie.afs
    pad_0.dat
    pad_1.dat
    pad_2.dat
    cd7bet52.elf
    fifademo - this is a file folder
    irx - this is a file folder
    scee_dd - this is a file folder
    root.olk
    msystem.cnf
    system.cnf
    flistd.txt

    6 now i use hp record now to burn these to dvd, but whatever you use should work.

    7 now after you have your modified backup of sc2, just install it on your hdd using hdloader by whatever method is needed in your situation

    For 1. I used common sense since I have a NTSC PS2 I changed the pal in step 3 to NTSC. After changing all the system and mysystem files, and getting all the files in that list copied over, I get stuck at this HP record s#@!.

    I don't have this supposed HP record and I am unsure what I need to do to get CDgen to spit me out a working copy of the game. Does LBA need to changed? does order matter? these kind of questions...

    I am using a Maxtor 160 gig with a bought copy of HD Advance and HDLD_SVR to upload my ISO's. Could someone please elaborate on the missing stuff? screenshots would even be greatly appreciated!!!!

    Just a question about the boot problem, is it specific to users who boot hdloader from a cd ? or just a common problem for all ?

    I ripped my Soul Calibur (retail pal version) to my 80gb seagate and it works great.
    No modes selected.

    Then I also tried to shrink the dummy files to 0 byte files instead and repacked the content with CDgen3.0 and transferd the new small iso (1gb) back to the hdd with Winhiip. And it worked perfectly just as before.
    But I dont use a cd to boot hdloader ...

    EDIT: Other then the dummy files, I did not alter the iso in any way.

    if you can use winhiip or LordBoGaMi HDL_Dump GUI, I suggest you to use one of them. and don't forget to indicate that the boot file is system.cnf, because by default, these progs will select the slusxxx file.
    use cdgen ps2 to create an iso file before burning anything, and change the system.cnf lba to 12231 (although it may be not necessary?).
    I know it works then when using winhiip to put sc2 on the hdd, don't know if it will work when burning it and then use hdloader...
    for a complete description, look at this topic from ps2stuff, I explain everything step by step there:
    ps2stuff -> soul calibur 2 on hdd
    hope it'll help.

    Is there any order to me adding the files to CDgenPS2? Because I have tried everything I can think of. Changing the LBA of the system.cnf changes the LBA of the rest of the files depending on if they were added before or after the system.cnf.

    I really appreciate your help, could you please elaborate on the CDgenPS2 Bin/Cue creation. THANX

    Not really, just change the order after adding. There is only one file that must be at a particular place: system.cnf must be right after all the folders (so the first file) at lba 12231.

    that's normal. Just do as I described above.

    Normally everything should be quite clear now, I hope... Did you follow the link in my previous answer? The description there is really complete I think. If you still have problems, just describe what you do step by step, I should be able to point out where something is wrong.

    Or try that:

    But I don't know anything about this (there is a fix!!? what's this website?).

    Hope you'll be able to play soul calibur II on hdd, because it's sooooo fast. And SC2 is such a good game!

    There's a need for a patch i believe - I don't think it works stock off the DVD onto the HDD. Check out the ps2 compatibility chart, and you'll see a link indicating a patch is needed; you can get it there

    (sorry, can't supply the link due to censorship - they have HDLoader on the page - google is your friend)
