i just recently acquired a seagate 160GB hd, which i confirmed others had never had previous compatibility issues with. thinking it would be a excellent replacement for my 40GB piece of *banana*, i installed it into my ps2 and it at first seamed not to work (hdloader would crash at splash when trying to load but launchelf hddManager opened it and even detected the games i installed with winhiip). curious, i pulled it out and checked the jumpers which were set to cable select. i can not even fathom how it worked in cs with launchelf but after changing it to master it is not even readable with ule and changing it back does nothing. i was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. i have a v5 with a broadband/modem adapter. after loading hddmanager before i could load hdloader and play games but only after that. thanks in advance.

First up, please use spell check before you submit your post. I almost puked from it.
Second, put your hard drive jumper settings to MASTER. cable select does not work for 99.9999% of the hard drives out there.

yes i realize my name is misspelled my username but that is intentional and technically not part of my post which only contains grammatical issues (lowercase letters start names). nowhere near as bad as the typical people needing help. heck, being dyslexic it took me 5 years to even be able to type well.

Definitely nowhere near that high of a percentage in reality. All of the Seagate Barracudas that I have used work fine with cable select in the PS2.

after consulting with the person i got the drive from, i discovered that the drive isn't seagates typical drive but is a custom drive from a directv dvr. it has a different firmware revision as the consumer marketed version of the drive. i wish they had told me where they got it when it was sold to me. i suspect that directv had alterations made to it, possibly something to cripple its compatability with computers. it works in my pc but not in my ps2.
