Slimline PS2s - XCM HD Connect?

Just saw this , and was curious how it'd work. This page claims you need the DMS4 to make use of the cable. However i know that what stores claim isn't always the case with PS2 apps.

My question is :
If i make use of this cable to attach a hard drive to a slimline PS2, can i simply run an HDLoader ELF (similar to doing so in a normal sized PS2) and have it detect the hard drive? or is the DMS4 truly necessary? =(

yep this is for v12 slim ps2 it uses the automan mode to connect and ide hd to the slim and use hdloader

No you dont have to use the DMS4 with this mod. But if your asking if you can use the exploit to boot HDL on the slim PSTwo's the answer is no. You will need a mod chip with dev1/2 mode. The MI, CC or DMS4 Pro can all be used with this mod.

The HD-Combo is a better solution then the HD-Connect in my eyes.

Oh wow. I didn't even know the HD-Combo existed. This is moreso what i was looking for. Thanks for the link! ^^
