Shrinking PS2 HDL Format
Shrinking PS2 HDL Format –
I'm trying to save some space on my hdd and with the default hdl format option in WinHIIP is consumes nearly 3GB. I got rid of all the partitions except for mbr and hdl setting and set the boot partition to 128mb.
No problems so far but can some experienced people tell me if this is a smart thing to do? Or if I can be rid of the boot partition too.
Also ps2menu-k automatically creates a 512mb partition, is there any way I can make that partition less?
I would also like more info on this.
Another question: If I create a "user" partition with the latest version of WinHIIP, would I be able to access it with LaunchELF?
I just got rid of the boot partition also
only MBR and HDL setting at 128mb each left
no problems so far
have no idea if this is a wise move though
any input is appreciated
the only thing i can tell you is that when hdl was first released i studied the apa structure, etc and found that even with a clean format with the original hdl disc, it was 2.625 gigs of space. i kept this to 'reformat' my drive on my pc cuz at the time there were no tools like winhiip or hdl_dump. btw this formatted data was less than 200k compressed a LOT of buffer space, must be there for a reason.
the point in posting this is to steer away the idea that this is a winhiip issue.
should be able to acces any partition though launchelf
