I recently bought an hd connect kit for my slim ps2. I'm used to working with the ps1 exploit method with the thicker ps2s. Can I still use this method with the slim ps2? Everywhere I read says I need to get a modchip, but I don't want my console to fry or anything. Please advise. Thanks alot

Use SwapMagic in place of a mod chip.. Swap magic acts as the PS1 trigger disk for the exploit and as far as I know it will work on the PStwo. It doesn't hurt to try its cheaper than a mod chip.

I don't have access to a ps1 trigger disk. I'm setting up a friend's slim ps2. My "old" ps2 is completed modded. Can I just use my ps2 to set up his mem card and use a ps1 disk. Would this method still work, or is the slim ps2's programming set up differently?

I believe the Slim PS2 Programming will not allow you to us the PS1 Trigger disk to trick the MC Exploit. Swapmagic is on a PS2 format disk and will exploit from the MC. Do a search for swapmagic3 to find more info. Also Click on news and look for this news title "12/27/04 How to install by the naplink save file". You will find it usefull. I hope you can get this working on the slim PS2.
