    hello world!

Long time lurker, first time poster. Was visiting Samsung's website today and noticed something interesting regarding their HDD product line.

    http://www.samsung.com/Products/Hard...umer/index.htm

It seems Samsung themselves suggest that their hard drive line aimed at consumer electronic devices is a good fit for the PS2. "Gaming Console" is among their list of applications and they even sport a small pic of the PS2.

I don't know if this has any real significance, but I got a kick out of it and thought I would share.

    Peace.

very much so. i wonder if they modified their firmware in a way to trick the ps2 console in to thinking its an official sony hdd.. its not like it would hurt to do that.. the officialy sony hdd's work in PC's just fine.

My 5400rpm Samsung transfers >20MB/sec... I think that should be enough for PVR.
The only case where you need as much rpm as possible is when you have a server which needs to access a lot of very little files very fast.
In the PS2 5400rpm is much better, because its absolutely silent.
