Thanks broodje, but I dont want a HDLoader + tutorial how to install apps in matrix infinity.I want a tutorial to make a HDLoader FP + MDMA that runs without cd/dvd on ps2 or the options in the HDLpatch to do this.Originally Posted by broodje
I need it because I want to patch my own HDLoader to run in infinitys without cd/dvd.

1. patching a clean HDloader is easy with the hdloader patch GUI, u can get it here sumwhere.
2. U cannot run ELF's from MI chip, u need to run them from CD/DVD, memory card or HDD.
I'm not going to discuss the HDL patching, because that has been discussed countless times before, and there are tons of tutorials available on most PS2 sites (including this one). You can easily find that stuff.Originally Posted by GLM
As for starting ELFs with MI and without any CD/DVD, there are three ways to do that:
1: Rename your ELF file to "BOOT.ELF" and store it inside "mc0:/BOOT/".
-- Start that ELF by pressing 'R1' at Reset or Powerup.
2: Rename your ELF file to "MANAGER.ELF" and store it inside "mc0:/MATRIXTEAM/"
-- Start that ELF by pressing 'Triangle' at Reset or Powerup
3: Use the Dev2Install v1.1 program to enable HDD booting.
-- Make sure to use the installer fitting your drive. (28-bit VS 48-bit LBA)
-- Rename your ELF file to "boot.elf" and store it inside"hdd0:/__boot/"
-- Start that ELF by pressing L1 at Reset or Powerup
Note that character casing is significant in all file/folder names mentioned above. Any variation in those names will cause them to be unrecognized by the MI chip. Also note that the HDD path is specified as you can see it in LaunchELF. In fact the '__boot' object is not just a folder, but a partition.

But when I run my HDLoader patched and I select a game, the game not run if I dont have cd/dvd in the ps2...
Then you must have patched HDL incorrectly.Originally Posted by GLM
The standard option flags for use of HDL without CD/DVD are /N + /C.
If you use both of those and still get a lockup, this may be because you also use the option flag /S. Using all three of those switches, and starting HDL without CD/DVD in the tray only works for PS2 models older than v9.
From PS2 models v9 and on you must use differently patched HDL ELFs depending on whether they are to be used with or without CD/DVD in the tray.
Without CD/DVD you must use /N + /C and must avoid /S.
With CD/DVD you must use /S + /C
The reason for this problem is that /S is intended to stop the CDVD unit, thus prolonging the life of its laser. But on late model PS2s this causes a lockup if the CDVD tray is empty.
Btw:
I'm not sure how many times I've given more or less exactly this answer to queries like yours.
I do know that the number is definitely up in the several dozens...
