Hmm, think heat could have crashed the hard drive? Because when I brought the hard drive back to my friends house I noticed that he was resting his xbox on top of the ps2. I about had a heart attack. I know those xbox's are pretty heavy and both the xbox and the ps2 are in a type of cubby on his nightstand. I don't know. I really can't imagine that clearing the hard drive of everything. But then again, he formatted it when HD Loader came up, so anychance of recovering what was on there was gone anyway.
We separated them and I put the ps2 in an open area. We played a few games and I turned it on and off a few times and it seemed to be fine. It's still pretty weird though, turning it on and having it all of a sudden formatting.

well next time when the confirmation for formatting comes up, DONT PRESS AGREE; just reset again and it should be back to normal. not that hard to avoid.

The licence agree or disagree prompt comes up AFTER the screen saying your PS2 needs to be formatted, and even then the only thing you can choose on the formatting screen is continue.

..thats why you just press the reset button without pressing anything
what im trying to say is- if hdloader doesnt startup normally then just reset the ps2 before doing anything you'd regret

I understand what your saying, but in this particular situation that wasn't an option because after some several resets it did the same thing.
Thanks Though
