A real NEWBIE

Hi there.

Im having some troubels with hdl_dump 0.7.3 As you know this has the feature that you can download games directly from the pc to the ps2 using the network.

First my hardware:
Playstation SCPH30004 w. neo 2.2
maxtor 160gb harddisk
Sony network adaptor
Hdloader
ar2.0
extremeFM

Network is a linksys wlan/router/switch.

I have read that i should install hdldl_svr.elf on the memorycard before i can connect.

Now my first question: How do i get the hdldl_svr.elf file to my memorycard and is it possible with the hardware/software i got?

well being that you are a noob, i will give you the #1 most important piece of info you will ever learn here....
always do a search first!

I was in your position not that long ago, one of the best things that I found that helped me out alot was this tutorial: http://lookatthemonkeys.com/html/ps2tut.html it has pictures and links to everything you need, goodluck just takes alot of patience and persistance if u really want to get stuff to work u have to stick with it.

I got the image from

to work. Using hdloader to get it on the harddrive i was able to get it started. I also managed to get hdlloader server 0.7.2 install on the mmc. But what do i do from here?

I have tried to reload the program og choose "display installed acpplications" Then i get a confirmation that the server 0.7.2 is install. I can press X on it, but all i get i a black screen.

(btw, i just discovered that the image i used before was for ps2 with Matrix infinity chip. No wonder i couldn't getit to work. )

go to http://hdldump.psx-scene.com/ and get the new GUI for hdl_dump... you want to use a program such as LanchELF, or ps2menu-k on your mc using the memcard exploit you can find it here http://ps2dev.org/kb.x?T=1069 to load the server(hdl_svr i think)...let it load up, then you want to run the GUI on your computer.... the GUI is pretty easy to use.... if you have any other questions let me know

Last night i got a connection and started to transfer a game from pc to ps2. However, it was very slow and the connection crashed after a few (five) minuts.

I havn't tried it since (had to go to work) but i will when it get back home. But thanks for the help so far.

Have you configured your firewall to accept the ps2? if you have got xp sp2 switch the firewall off and try again. you wont get very fast speeds using a network, better to connect the ps2 directly to the pc. I use hdl_dump and a lan network and it takes about 1 hour to transfer a 4 gig game

That pretty long time. Normally i use a usb2 bos and it take no time.

But think i will try to put an extra netcard in my pc an use it to ps2 only.
