Yes possible when u use a IDE USB box. Then stick the box into your laptop maybe and Winhiip will recognize it. I always transfer through my laptop via usb cable. And my laptop has USB 1.1.

USB 1.1 should give you up to 800KB/sec. Consider trying networked transfers -- it's twice as fast.

plugin your usb enclosure (with you hdd of course)
go to device manager settings and open THAT drive's properties
    click the 'Policies' tab
tick the option 'Optimize for performance' (do NOT tick 'enable caching!')

this will give you the fastest possible speed for that drive enclosure.

    good luck
