Question about 48Lba patch

I have my hard drive with hdloader and everything set up. Its 160gb and I haven't done any patching to it use the whole thing. I got a bunch of games on it (no programs), do I need to have an empty drive to patch hdloader or can I leave everything and just patch it.

um....patching hdloader is all about hdloader.elf not the hdd all u have to do is take hdloader.elf and put use the program to pack it i had just got my hdd to read 153gb since i figure out how to patch it just read what i had said in my post like2 post down XD
