It looks like there's some kind of patch through program that Konami is using...it seems that it boots as a PS2 game but then the PS2 portion of the code runs a PSX game. Using the same method, it could be possible to get HDLoader to think that its a PS2 game but have the PS2 code run a PSX image using the PSX driver. Its very unlikely that this will work anytime soon since we don't have Konami's code for doing this and its likely that its easier to make a HDLoader simply for PSX games than do something like this, considering that the community is basically blindfolded without Konami's code and the limited availibility of BBNav software.
Heres an idea ... if anyone has bbnav, and has done such a thing (downloaded a psx game and has ran it from the hdd) why not take the ps2 drive and place it into the pc and extract the game into iso format with some sort of tool (if theres not one out there, I'm sure there can be one made ... just take a look at all the hdl tools already) and then browse the iso of the psx game with use of a hex editor to see how it really loads (ie. what changes were made to it compared to the original) .. just an idea ... seems to easy to me ... especially with all the leet programers out there ... amazes me it hasn't been done yet ...
It hasn't been done yet because nobody has publicly released a program that can actually read the files from the PS2's HDD filesystem on a PC. You can't extract the files if the PC can't read them.
Maybe you can modify the system.cnf file of a psx game before injecting like :
BOOT2 = cdrom0:\S***_***.**;1
BOOT = cdrom:\S***_***.**;1
the same sles, sces etc.. but with boot2 in first so it could boot with hdl.
I have not tried but maybe it s easy like that ;-)
Even if that let you install the PSX disc with HDLoader (which I don't think it will), it's still isn't going to work. Back to the drawing boardOriginally Posted by Chandler

I can confirm this doesn't work, I have tried various combinations of the such (ie the boot2/boot followed by cdrom0 for both, or cdrom0 for first and not second, and/or hdd0 for both) and installed them with hdl dumb ... hdd has small amount of activity when u try to load from HDL, but I can guarantee more needs to be patched than just those 2 things. Also, a question ... when running HDLoader from MC Exploit, you never see a ps1 or ps2 screen first ... doesn't this mean it COULD in theory be possible with a sort of wrapper to launch a ps1 game from hdloader using exploit, or is the ps2 hardware already activated and you just never see the screen ?
on Dreamcast they could port the software called Bleem! with a single psx game so that it emulates the Bleem program and runs with psx game. basically you would just insert the game and it would run. maybe they did something of the sort for ps2...
On why NeroAngel can't release a DD (at least a bit by bit) copy of his HD with this on it?... If he does, maybe some of us can take a stab out of how it functions and see if we could inject other games into it, at that we could at least tell how complicated this maybe and/or if it can be done...
Can you at least release a ghost image of it?

dodgeit, i have heard of the ps1 emulator for dreamcast, but its a windows ce based console from what i remember, so programming would be easier.
anyway, the ps2 contains extra hardware to play ps1 games. Depending on what media you put in, decides what hardware gets turned on. (ps1, ps2, or dvd) In fact, a long time ago ppl were saying how sony was recruiting programmers to help create a ps1 and ps2 emulator for the ps3, so extra hardware would not be needed.
