PStwo, HDConnect and swapmagic 3.6

first post here and kinda new in ps2scene so first off hi to everyone you all do a great job here its been interesting reading these forums! :)

ok now on to things ive read and read and read and seem to have taken in everything ok and have managed to get my ps2 (old Model) working ok with the exploit so i understand how it all works,

my question is if i get an new PStwo unmodded with nothing done to it could i then buy swapmagic3.6 and HDConnect and use the swapmagic discs to directly boot launchelf from swapmagics built in ELF loader and then start HDloader patched directly from the memory card? this way it would save me chipping my pstwo, i already have original hdadvanced discs but these are pretty useless i hear because of the pstwo issues with hdconnect,
