PS2MENU freezing

Probably risking a ban at a certain other forum by asking this here as well, but at this point I'm completely stumped.

Having an odd issue with PS2MENU-K, and I'm pretty sure I'm just missing something, but I really don't know what.

PS2MENU-K (latest version) refuses to run at all on my system. If I try to load it from memory card via KeyLauncher (latest version) or by replacing KeyLauncher with the PS2MENU-K elf I get the text screen, which pops up with messages about loading several IRX files, and then freezes solid. All of the files in the ZIP (including the text files!) were put on the memory card, so there really shouldn't be any missing files.

If I copy it to the HD (a partition for apps created with HDD Format Tool), then KeyLauncher will make a comment about loading the HDD drivers, then say it's loading the application, and stop right there-- PS2MENU-K doesn't even try to display anything, and the loading message stays on the screen. All of the files are on the HD, just as they were on the memory card, and I know it's not a problem with KeyLauncher since that'll load PGEN off the HD just fine. HDAdvance runs just fine as well.

Oddly, I get similar crashing behavior from Altimit as well: it, too, hardlocks with no display. This is driving me absolutely crazy. Any ideas? I can't just load all my apps from the KeyLauncher, since I'll run out of buttons quickly, so I'm at a major roadblock here.

I'm not sure, but I seem to recall KeyLauncher having issues with ps2menu-k and several other elfs I used. My general experience with KeyLauncher was just not very pleasant, although it's a nice idea, just not well implemented or coded (at least not yet). I think someone posted LaunchELF on the boards here, which is where I got it, although I think it's available at a certain other site (I really don't like going there, so I'm not going to check). LaunchElf has not been any problem for me, and allows you to assign elfs to buttons from within the program, rather than having to mess with KL.DAT and send it over to the mc. I think KeyLauncher has potential, but at its current state is not very useable for me. Sorry I really don't have an answer for you, but different launchers have different issues with certain elfs; I think ps2menu-k is just one that KeyLauncher doesn't like.

The odd thing here is that it crashes even when I'm not trying to load it from keylauncher. Oh well. I'll try LaunchElf when I get home tonight and see if that makes a difference. Now that I've read back through two forums, I've found a few other instances of incompatibility between KL and PS2Menu, so it does seem that there's a major incompatibility. I'll also try without the HD installed, and see if that does anything.

you might want to find another copy of ps2mnu-k, maybe your's is corrupted or something

Try this one its packed with ps2-packer and works perfect with Keylaunch for me

After playing with it further, I still didn't get anywhere with it-- until I tried to run my memory card on a friend's PS2. It worked fine there. So, I scratched my head and put the card back into mine-- and it started working again. I'm not sure what the difference is, though I suspect it had something to do with the HD and partitioning I have. Any case, it's working now. Thanks to everyone for the help!

well.. that happens to me when i dont have my memory card in the slot... it justs stop loading in the middle of everythgin... i dunno what file i have on my memory card for it becuase im running it right off a cd , no exploit... just put it on a cd with all the .elf fiels i need and i just use it to puck wat elf i wanna use but it dont seem to work withtout my mem card in while loading
