after skinning the hdloader and applying my "Windows XP Playstation 2 Editioin" skin, i decided i'd go after the icon on the MC.
i changed the name of the save from "Your System Configuartion" to "HDLoader". and i changed the icon from the ps2 icon to a cube with 4 little images.. the xp icon, the hdloader icon, the ps2 icon, and the microsoft window.
i've attached a picture of the icon & rar containing the icon.sys & title.ico files.
here's how i did it.
first i backed up my system configuration file from my MC w/ my sharkport. it contains, HDA.ELF, BOOT.ELF (ownz, its tiny, so i use it),TITLE.DB, icon.sys, & history.
i made my bmp 128x128 24-bit & used bmp2icon to convert it to a ps2 icon (cube, its the coolest.. i had to rename it to .ico instead of .icn, which is what it saves to by default).
you cant use the icon.sys file from the "your system configuration" file, i think it point to a location in the system rom to load the icon. i had a save that i backed up with my sharkport, so i took its icon.sys file and extracted it with ps2savebuilder.. i then opened the "your system configuration" sharkport save with ps2savebuilder.. i replaced the icon.sys file from a different save (any save will work as long as its not "your system configuration", it will show up with a little shark icon in the MC broswer), then put in the title.ico file in to ps2savebuilder.. now the only problem is that when you put it back on your MC the save name will be whatever the save name you took the icon.sys file from (in my case "MVP 2004 jeex").. in ps2savebuilder, right click on the icon.sys file and select "edit", change line 1 to "HDLoader", or whatever you want. i think you can have a max of 12 characters.. Line 2, just leave it blank.. i guess you could put something else there, but all i needed was "HDLoader".. then save your save.. upload it to your MC and you've got your custom icon with custom name.. enjoy
