I'm an avid xbox modder (dedicated to xbox-scene) that doesnt exclude game systems in the share of love and attention. I have only posted once in this fourm but im well aware of the hard work thats done here. My hats off to you all.

My question is i play FFXI pretty hardcore and im worried that any type of direct HDD modding might result in an inability to play this ever again. If i use HDDloader or anything of the like, will i destroy any chance of play FFXI again?

    P.S.
Why is the tut page blank from the main page?

As far as I've been told HDLoader will not interfere with your Final Fantasy data. You won't have a ton of space for games, but you should be able to use it without a problem.

HDLoader coexists with FFXI, POL, and Tetramaster just fine ... only problem is that all those only leave about 26GB (+/- a few gigs, it's been a while since I looked) left for HDLoader partitions.

thanx to ya. Ill be looking into getting myself a HDDloader (or clone) in the near future then. Now, to find out how worth modding the system is.

    One more question.

If HDDloader is used to partition the drive, is it possible to restore it to the original configuration? (pre-HDDloader partitions)

Yes, just use HDD Utility Disc to reformat the drive, and reinstall FFXI and the associated software from the PlayOnline and FFXI discs. That's why they gave you those discs with the HDD, in case you need to reformat and reinstall it.

If you have the funds, why don't you just get yourself another HD just for use with the HDLoader? A 200gb is around $100 online. Then you will have tons of space and no worries about messing up your game.

i thought about that but it goes into the same rationality i use for my XBOX. If i had a 200g drive why not put it into my PC and make it truly intuitive to my needs. If i slap it into a PS2/Xbox, sure i can store about a dozen games, but i cant store alternate console software on it, nor can i use it to back up my PC. I dunno. Its a cool idea and i understand the desire for a huge internal drive, but im just as content with FTP'ing and getting the full advantage of my 200g drive using SMB or Relax.
