Problems when extracting Imagefile from my ps2-hdd with hdl_dump!

Hi, I've not come here and I want to say "hello" to everyone. Plz forgive my

poor english..:-)

I've got a big problem when I extract imagefile from ps2-hdd to my pc-hdd

with hdl_dump

I've never got a problem when injecting imagefile to ps2-hdd but when

extracting,

"00000005 <5>: Access is denied." <-- this message is shown.

I use win2000. is there any problem with my OS version?

PLZ help me!!

OK, let's see if u can follow this... it seems that your windows 2000 has some sharing anomolies, and hopefully this will fix it.. I haven't tried it because mine works fine on XP-pro, and don't want to mess anything up....

by the way, YOU and only you take full responsibility if this messes up...

Also, i'm doing this from XP's standpoint, and may differ a little bit from Win2k

((This might be an XP only thing))
1) Open explorer, and click TOOLS|FOLDER OPTIONS
2) Click VIEW tab and uncheck USE SIMPLE SHARING

((Should be general))
3) right click on MY COMPUTER icon on desktop or startmenu, and click MANAGE
4) click STORAGE|DISK MANAGEMENT on the left panel
5) Right click on your PS2 drive, click PROPERTIES
6) Select SECURITY tab, click the ADVANCED button
7) Select OWNER tab, select your user (or if you're an admin, select ADMINISTRATORS)
8) Make sure the checkbox is checked REPLACE OWNER ON SUBCONTAINERS AND OBJECTS
9) Hit OK

it may take a lil bit, but this makes it so you won't get access denied errors.... I've had to do this plenty of times when someone brings me a computer to backup/fix, and I don't have access to their files due to NTFS permissions. Once you make it yours, then you should be OK.

Again, i'm not sure if this will fix your problem since the file system ISN'T NTFS (but PFS rather), but give it a whirl and check it out!

Thanks for answering~ :-) so I got a multi-booting with Wix-Xp and I can't find

SECURTIY tab in hard disk drive properties. there is only general,policy,volume,driver.


and another question~.. I read your tutorial for HDL. It was a Great thing to me. Thank

And...Do i have to use like a hub to use network installlitaions? like outer internet line to hub which got a two connections from my computer and ps2?

is there any way to connect my computer's

network card to ps2?

i just looked over my previous post and re-did all the steps, you have to do exactly that.

it sounds like you went into DEVICE MANAGER, which isn't what I had said to do... You can't do what you need there.. again, just follow the instructions verbatim.

As for the netowkring portion - it really depends on your setup..

Answer these questions:
1) Is your computer hooked up directly to your ISP's modem?
2) Are you behind a router?
3) Are any other computers hooked up to the modem in any way, and if yes, how?

Hubs are really depracated hardware (meaning it's junk), and personally I think they shouldn't be used.
You can hook your PS2 directly to your PC, but if you're a single PC online, you'll have to kill your internet connection as to get a local IP to match subnets - that's where a router comes into play.

Plus, if you don't have a router, you might want to look into one for added security.

to further comment on what killerspaz said, if you're going to try to hook your ps2 directly to your pc ethernet card, you need a crossover cable, not a regular ethernet cable. if you don't know what this is, look it up in google

I see..I have solved extracting image file .. now thanks to alucard x, only thing I have to do is going to buy crossover cable :-) Very much thanks to U 2..:-)

Finally, would u suggest what hard-disk match perfectry with HD-loader? I would like a
Samsung more. but if u suggest others, I wanna to love it! :-)

Oh..now I can understand your meaning much than before..sorry..I've should tell u about that. Yeah! your method could make me extracting image files! Hdl_Dump ver is 0.6. and I don't have a router so I should buy croosover cable but for my laziess(?...sorry I can't remember exactly) I couldn't buy one. so I can't try it.
