Ok so I have a fat PS2 with network adapter and an HDD. I have HDLoader and uLaunchELF on my system. I want to transfer ISO's over a LAN cable (or what I think is a LAN cable. Its the fatter socket wire on the network adapter). So I got the HDL_Dump server thing on my USB thumb drive and booted it up on uLaunch from the USB and it said it was ready:
    IP: 192.168.0.10
Then when I load the HDL_Dump on my pc and load an ISO it cannot connect to the PS2!! Any help?!?!?!?

Are you using a router, or a hub? Check your firewall settings... DJ

Also, are you connecting directly to the LAN port on the comp or are you using a router? If you're connecting it directly, you will need a crossover cable adapter.

[edit] Didn't quite read that, DJ. LOL Sorry man. Anyway, make sure you're using the right program. I personally have used the java based one described by fatman in this thread.

Oh well, I have the cable plugged directly into my laptop which has a wireless internet connection. Should I plug the cable directly to the router in my house?

u don't need internet for this.
if u have a cross over cable... use direct connection from laptop to PS2.

If u only have a straight cable. use your router. open up the correct ports, i think port 21 - 22 is used for this

I have the same problem as soapdude. I already modded my ps2 on my own using the independence exploit and I use HDLoader 0.8c I have 2 ethernet ports (one built in on the Mobo which I use for internet access, and the other is on my NIC card which was unused until I decided to mod my PS2) in my PC. I have my phat PS2 connected to my PC via PS2 network adapter to the NIC card. I went to network connections on windows XP and it's saying "network cable unplugged".

I KNOW that the NIC card is working, I tested it by connecting my cable modem to it and my internet was working fine. I just want to be able to copy ISO's from my PC to the PS2 HDD. Since I'm using HDLoader 0.8c I know I have to use HDL_Dump/Dumb with HDLD_svr. I've been reading tutorials I've found across the net (ie: the "advanced PS2 networking tutorial" on exploitstation.com) and none of them seem to tell me what I exactly need to know. If anyone can help out with advice or can direct me to a detailed tutorial it would be greatly appreciated.

Update: OK! I confirmed I don't have a crossover cable, but I found a crossover adapter! Will That work? And if it will work, am I required to have the adapter plugged into the PS2 network adapter or my NIC card in my PC?

It's going to do the same job no matter which side it's on. And according to the tutorial, it should work. I personally load my games at night when I'm asleep. Hope it works for ya and report your results when you get this done.

Alright! I got the PC to recognize the ps2 using my crossover adapter, however, I tried to use Lord Bogami's HDLD GUI to transfer iso's and it gave me an "unknown error" message. (I'm using HDLD_svr 0.8.6 I believe) I tried using HDL_Dumb and the same message popped up when I tried to tried transferring ISO's again... I'm using a seagate HDD and I read that they kinda suck in terms of using it on a PS2. Any solutions? Also, Is there any way to transfer ISO's through USB on an HDL partition?

    Thanks in advance.

P.S.: I'm kinda hellbent on trying to get this to work cause' I know the ps2's DVD-ROM laser isn't godlike... I don't want to stress it out to the point where it stops working on me.
