    As i've understood it this only happens on older models when you boot your ps2 up the ps2 bios automatically starts the hdd then shuts it directly off which is of course not very healthy for the hdd in the long run so i'm curious if there has been any attempt to make a hack of the bios preventing this or does it lie too deep within the bios to be able to do a function like that?

    use fmcb you can turn off the hdd check so it doesnt spin up i belive

    by default FMCB disables the HDD spinup on boot.

    Yep, glad this was further tweaked in later FMCB versions so that my v4 works like the other PS2 models.

    which versions are you guys using , i'm still on 1.7 and it spins up no matter what options I have on.

    and what exactly is this option called cause i've tried turning on and off "skip hdd update check" without much result.
