I have the original HD Loader disc and would like to be able to use my entire 160 gig hard drive. Is it possible to use the original HDL disc to load the HDL program and somehow use the LBA 48 bit patch or anything else to access all 160 gigs. I only want to use what is absolutely necessary for me to be able to use all 160 gigs. Is this possible, and if so what do I need to do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Now playing GTA San Andreas, Scarface, GT4 & Tourist Trophy.

As far as my knowledge and what I've tried, you can't load HDL twice. So I think it's not possible to do that. You need to patch your original HDL with 48bit LBA support in order to use all your 160Gig hdd. Maybe there is someone already succeeded in doing so.

Sure it's possible, it's just not always successful...? You can try this if you must...

First, I recommend using WinHiip to initialize your disk so as to minimize the "required" partitions down to zero... though this isn't necessary... but you will need to initialize it somehow with a 48bit LBA using either a patched HDL (I assume this isn't possible for you because you seem to not have a modded PS2) or WinHiip or HDL_Dump (using HDL_Dumb if you must)...

Then, your first HDL Partition on your disk should be 128 MB ISO of HDLoader patched... (you'll need an unpacked ELF - download from the Internet of course and Zero-X's patcher - grab the All-In-One kit)... Use the same SYSTEM.CNF from the root of your HDLoader CD and you'll be fine. Don't forget to edit "boot2=HDLOADER.ELF" in the file. Build an ISO with the ELF and the SYSTEM.CNF and use WinHiip or HDL_D to install it...

HDLoader can load another HDL just fine, just remember to enable mode 3 for your above ISO (mode 3 unloads HDLoader)... I've done this before but never with an original 24bit to 48bit HDLoader... I suspect you should be just fine as long as you remember to install and load games using only a 48bit compatible loader (either your 2nd HDL ELF or one the above installers)... I wouldn't even try loading a game from your original HDL...

You know... buying a mod chip surely woulda been cheaper than buying an original HDLoader...?
