please help me before I kill myself

Okay hello

I'm about ready to burst into flames out of frustration.

I've a V5 PS2 modded with DMS4pro, everything on it works fine. So I went out and bought a 200GB maxtor from newegg, a diamondmax10, that is on the compatibility list. So I put it in my comp, installed some games on it with winhiip and formatted it for toxicOS, then I set it to master and put it in my PS2. IT DOESN'T SHOW UP IN TOXIC OS AND DMS FORMAT REFUSES TO DETECT IT.

I even tried hdloader .7c modified and it also refused to detect it.
So after all this I even went out and bought a new network adapter and STILL THE SAME THING

I've run out of ideas and I'm really angry because I've waited so long to get a hard drive! Any suggestions anyone?

But maybe if u try to format it to NTFS in your PC and then hook it up to your PS2 again, then load HDLoader to format it, hoping it will detect it.

But shouldnt u use HDLoader with the 48 bit patch coz your HDD is bigger then 40 GB ?

Hmm what version of winhiip are you using? I had problems with 1.7.5 go with 1.7.4 formart and install games through winhiip. Then just run the ToxicOS should detect it. I have done this on a friends ps2.

Okay so I used 1.7.3 to format and install games, I guess that was a mistake.


I can't find 1.7.4 so I'm just using 1.7.5 and it seems to still not be working.


Lemme get this straight:
after it is formatted correctly with winhiip and I install games, all I do is plug it in and toxicos will detect it right? I don't have to run anything on toxicos for it to be detected do I?

from your first post you mentioned that you put your hd in master setting and put it into your ps2. well if you left the master jumper in you could get that no hd detected screen. so take the jumper out AFTER you formatted the hd with winhip and leave it out when you put it back into your ps2, this should work. if not when you kill yourself can i get first dibbs on your ps2

Okay just a few things

mann-- I'm not really sure what you're saying, are you saying I should put the hard drive in with it not set on master? I have a maxtor so if I take off the pin it is set to slave mode.

corderroy--would my winhiip really keep the hard drive from being detected? or would it just mess up formatting? regardless, I tried 1.7.5 and like I said it still didn't work.

Maybe I'll try winhiip from the website above?

Oh and by the way, my friend just gave me his ps2, although it has a dead laser and is not modded, so if worse comes to worse I'll try out his ps2.

yup. thats what i mean only use the jumpers when you are putting the hd into your pc and set it for slave. now when you put it into your ps2 leave the jumper out. your ps2 will detect the drive now.

I've a maxtor so when I put a jumper on it's master, when I take jumper off it's slave

I'm assuming jumper is the tiny little black piece that you slide over
