i bought a play station 2 version 9, and i want to place a hard drive in the expansion slot and connect it up etc or what not. i dont know much about this but im trying to find out as much as i can on how this is done etc. anyway i was wondering is there any specific hard drive or hard drives the ps2 takes.anyway let me know pleeeeeease :-pray: thanks - PEACE :)
You can put in practically any hard drive, but before you can actually use it, you'll need a network adapter and HD Loader/HD Advance. What I've noticed is that Maxtor drives usually fit in without any modifications at all, while Western Digital drives often require some minor modding to the NA to get it to fit.
thanks for your help. much appreciated. :) however, what is a HD loader...i read the rules etc and you cant ask for any links but im just wondering..what is a hd loader or hd advance and what do these things or what do they do? would appreciate it if you could help me. thanks - PEACE :)
They are software which allow games to be copied to and played from an installed hard drive. The Playstation 2 does not natively support this, so third-party software (HDLoader and HDAdvance) is necessary.
Go with a Maxtor HDD.. You cant go wrong there.. Plus you can also format the HDD with HDDformat.. The .elf can be found on the forums.. As for the HDloader.. Look on some of these forums about a ""compatiblity list"" for games and you just may find what your looking for there... Enjoy!...
