Patched Hdloader crashes.

Hello all.

I have a V9 machine PAL

I have downloaded the pre-patched version of hdloader.

Patches applied - /N /C /S /F /L

So i wanted to boot it up using the dev.mode

So i hold triangle and hdloader booted up. Normally the hdloader crashes at splash screen. But now i used the pre-patched hdloader and it went to the game list.

But it crashes when i select install or select a game.

Any clues?

Yes, this is a known problem with PS2 versions V9 and newer. (I've a PAL V9 myself)

The solution is to never use all three of the switches /N /C /S for the same ELF.

Use /N and /C, but not /S, for dev.mode booting, as that is the case where you can boot without any CD/DVD disk in the tray. /S is not needed then, as there is no disk to be stopped.

Use /S, but neither /N nor /C, for exploit booting, as that will always be done with a PS1 CD disk in the tray. /N and /C serve no purpose then, as they only help HDL to work with an empty tray.

This naturally means that the pre-patched HDL version you have is not suitable for use as-is. Hopefully it can be repatched, or you can find an unpatched version to use as basis for your own patching instead. The tools needed for such patching are found in the 'sticky' threads of this forum.
