Patch causes Black Screen
Patch causes Black Screen –
I need some assistance with a small problem I'm having. I have been searching and have not found anything that really helps me with my issue. My problem is this; I have managed to install the MC expolit to boot Keyloader. (I'm running a Ver 4 PAL PS2, Net Adaptor, 200gig Maxtor, with Keylauncher, HDL and ExecFTP installed). Now my problem is with HDL. I have both versions the free & retail, and both work fine. FreeHDL boots no dramas off the MC. However when I install Zero-X's patch, it refuses to run. I get a 'Loading..' message after Keyloader, but then a black screen. I have tried using different combinations in the patch (I've tried HDL_AIO, BMPBatcher4, HDL_Edit, etc) and nothing seems to work. The file is the right size before anyone jumps in.. And I have renamed the ELF to all capitals too..
Has anyone else had a similar problems? I'm really sorry if this is a repeat, but I have searched thru the forums and not found anything that really helps my situation. I really would like to figure this one out, so If anyone can offer even the smallest clue as to why this is crashing, I'd be most appreciative.. Also, If I need to supply more info please let me know..
Thanks and regards,
what did you use to re-pack the ELF? For what ever reason pspacker .4(?) (the one in the latest AIO) seems to pack the ELF fine, but it doesn't load for me. Others seem to have no problems.
are you using a timestamp/date patch? if so, which one?
/D3 gave me problems with certain games, and it wouldnt be much of a surprise if it caused your errors too
Thanks for your quick responses!
Hi scottmbritton - I'm using whatever packer was shipped in the program. Maybe this is the problem? But then this shouldn't be the case with HDL_Edit & BMPBatcher... Both of which I also tried..
Hi Jeex - Tried using all switches at first and then eliminated them all one by one, until the only option left was the 48bit. Even that by itself was unsucessful.
I noticed when I FTP'ed to my HDD last night that there was a HDL config file.. Could this perhaps have something to do with it? (Prob not..)
I thought it may have been the apps or the ELF itself, but a kind person in another forum kindly patched an ELF and sent it to me, but I had the same problem.. No matter what I try it falls over. Could this mean perhaps that my PS2 V4 is incompatible with 48bit? Or do I need to format the HDD first before a patched HDL will recognise the HDD?
Again, Thanks heaps for your help Guys!
All the best,
It seems KeyLauncher is not 48bit compatible. I tried LaunchELF as suggested by PS2Stuff and it works no probs..
Thanks everybody who helped!
