PAL60 color mod: possible with unmodded v9?
PAL60 color mod: possible with unmodded v9? –
Hi all! I have a TV that supports PAL60 but not NTSC.
I bought an external NTSC-PAL60 converter, but the picture quality is complete crap.
Now I read about a "color fix" that, by shorting 2 pins together, forces the PS2 to output a PAL60 signal.
So my 2 questions are:
1. does this color fix work witha a completely unmoddedd PAL v9 PS2?
2. groups like kalisto include trainers with some releases that allow you to choose PAL, NTSC or PAL60. Is there a general fix like this?
thanks in advance for any input!
On PAL TVs you usually don't need a converter at all. Simply get an RGB SCART cable and everything will work. With such a cable, it does not matter at all if it's NTSC or PAL. This will also give you the best possible image quality.
hmm I have a SCART cable that works on all TVs except mine... where it stays B&W...
but thanks to my impatience I simply opened up my PS2 and did the color fix from the messiah install guide anyway, using nothing but Tesa strips and a cable =)
works like a charm!
That's odd.. probably your TV does not support RGB. Every SCART-capable TV should do, though.
Another possibility is that the SCART cable is not correctly wired.
Nice "ghetto-style" mod
