Packed? Or Unpacked? That is the question.

I load HDL from my HD via LaunchELF so although it doesnt need to be packed (cos space isnt an issue) if I did use it unpacked would it load any faster?? Technically you'd think with it being un-compressed it would run faster but is it noticeable.

the unpacked verions about 2.00MB takes around 4 seconds jsut to get he elf started.. but after that the elf runs like it would compressed it runs the same speed so no it wouldnt be faster cuz it takes alot of time to jsut run the elf itself..

Yea I meant the loading time of it. You would think that a packed ELF would have to be unpacked and loaded into memory before it ran whereas a unpacked ELF could just be loaded into memory straight away.

For example a PC compressed file say a compressed exe has to be uncompressed (even temporarily) before its loaded into memory and runs.

I didn't notice any time difference with mine (compressed and uncompressed). I'm sure it's just a difference of 2 or 4 seconds, doesn't really matter.

the algorythm is very fast and takes well under half a second to get the show on the road
