I found an ebay auction for 9 (now eight :wink EXTERNAL OFFICIAL SONY HDD's! FOR $20!!!

That's right, $33 shipped for me for an item that usually goes for at least a $100, however it doesn't come w/ the potentially even rarer PCMCIA card needed to connect the HDD to the PS2 or TOOL dev kit, however, again, it's way more than likely eBay will be host to a sale of one and/or some other import site, still a great deal B)

Here ya go peeps: Sony PS2 Development Dev Tool DTL-H20400 40GB Drive NEW - eBay (item 160494536957 end time Nov-15-10 10:46:47 PST)

And contrary to what the auction listing dude says, you CAN use this for a standard JAP SCPH-10000 series (15000,18000 too) simply by updating the firmware w/ a BB Navi disc

Anyone happen to know an import site that would sell the BB Navi disc (I'm sure Google will pop something up, but other links are welcome, too) and a PCMCIA card?

I've bought two months ago. They came with dual voltage power supply and box. The seller removed the PCMCIA adapter from the kit (It was stated on the site that it did not contain the PCMCIA network adapter.).

They arrived in perfect shape and I've been using one of them along with the retail drive I already had. Since I only own one PCMCIA network adapter (retail) I've been using it as additional storage. To make things clear, I also purchased an DTL internal drive (seagate of that series with the rubber jacket. This one had no rubber jacket lol) which does install on the OSD perfectly but is not compatible with DNAS.

The external drives even worked with FFXI (Yes, they work with DNAS stuff)

And hell, there's no firmware to update on them. Nothing. You plug, they work. Simple as that.

Well that would be the exact reason right there.

You KEPT posting, and they KEPT on getting DELETED.

You had it posted in three different threads at one time..

That's not the way to get yourself noticed. All that does is piss us off, and draws bad attention to yourself..

So what makes this better than getting a network adapter and a internal ide HDD with a ps2 fat?

I think I'm totally missing the point.

Edit, NM The eBay page answered the question
Q: if it can not connect to a play station 2, the what purpose does it serve?
A: This is supposed to be for people who want to develop applications for the PS2. Alternatively you can probably pull the hard drive from the dev unit and use it with your PS2

That would be a shame as the 10K units can only use these cases along with the PCMCIA card. And standard PS2s can use generic HDDs.

These are 40GB since they're official drives. I doubt people would buy them for anything besides use on a 10/15/18K unit.

I was really tempted to get one of those external HDDs... but I don't have the PCMCIA card.

I don't have a lot of "spare" cash either, so getting stuff that won't work isn't allowed.
