Ok so i've received my 250 gigs hard drive today, i plugged it in the slave IDE slot of my computer to quick format it using WinHIIP, now i got 233 gigs (using 48 bits) of space, i've put on some games and thats it. Now the only thing left to do is to hook it up in my ps2 or did i miss something?

No, that should be it, as long as you remember to restrap the drive to be IDE bus master in the PS2. A slave drive will only work if another drive is master of that IDE bus, which can't happen in the PS2.

I also assume that you've already arranged some way of launching the HDLoader/HDAdvance program, either by mod-chip, exploit, or by running it from a commercial disc.

yeah that will work just load your hdloader up and you will be fine.
I thought saving 15% on my car insurance was good but having my ps2 modded by N£TM£ÇH was way better!

Are you saying that it is impossible to connect 2 hdds (1 master & 1 slave) to a PS2?

But will the program always load from a CD or is there a way to put it directly on the ps2 hardrive so it boots himself on startup?

are you asking is it possible to load hdloader off the hd? if so yes by using the dev2 mode and holding down l1 button during start up.

I don't see how you could possibly draw that conclusion from what I said. I merely stated that you can't have a slave *IN* a normal PS2, and the main reason is that there is no room for both a master and a slave drive. I suppose you could manage it with special connectors leading out of the enclosure though (or micro drives inside even). So connecting two drives is certainly possible, but I think doing so is a bad idea.

IMHO there would be little point in connecting two drives, as available software only accesses one drive, and naturally always the master. This is not likely to change either, as adding a second drive to the PS2 is not something you can easily do and still maintain some system integrity. (Hull breached, drives unshielded, PSU overloaded, you name it...)

Are you sure of that info ?

Wixzard mentioned having a Duo2 mod chip, and I can't find any docs stating that such chips have Dev2 support. All info I find about it describes only CD/DVD-disc booting, so I think that's the only method available for him.
