Noob with patch ? –
Hey guys. just found this site and did a few searches--couldnt find the answer.
very simple noob ?
i have ps2 with harddrive, hdloader and n/w adaptor. i have a few games installed and working off the hd.
i have james bond rogue agent installed, but it freezes (set in mode 3). i found a patch online for it, but need to know how to install it. the best way for me would be to pull the hd out of my ps2 and put it into my comp. is there a Noob step by step tutorial for this anywhere? thanks in advance..
edit: i do not have a dvd player in my computer. do i need one?

Basically you need a disc image of the game on your computer in order to apply the patch. If you don't have a DVD-ROM, you can't rip your own image. To install without burning though, connect the PS2 HDD to the PC either internally (set it to Slave, this is key) or use an external USB 2.0 enclosure and put it in there. Then you use WinHIIP, select the drive, and transfer it. Applying the patch is easy, just use ppf-o-matic.
Oh man..I just thought of something, disregard needing the DVD-ROM Drive. If you were able to install it to your PS2 HDD..using WinHIIP you can rip the image off of the PS2 HDD by selecting Extract, then patch that ripped image.
excellent, i will try it when i get home. do i need to worry about deleting any games when i pull the hd out of my ps2 and put it into my comp? will it be basically plug & play when i finish patching and put it back in the ps2? thanks!
Its pretty easy. Only deleting you'll need to do is the original unpatched ISO, once you extract that image to your PC. Shut the PC off, set PS2 HDD to slave, plug it in the PC, turn PC on. Use WinHIIP and extract the iso, then patch. Delete the old ISO off the PS2 HDD, install the newly patched ISO, and get the HDD out of there (make sure you shut it off, hot-swapping is risky) and then put it back into the PS2. Its a bit time consuming to throw the HDD into the PC for me but a painless and easy process to actually install anything once its in the PC.
Worked like a charm. thanks for the help!~
