Hello everyone! I'm planning on buying a v12 playstation and i would like to connect it to a HD to directly play backups on it. I've searched a bit and found that USBExtreme could allow me to do that but there seems to be quite some problems with it so is there any other way i could get something to work (without any soldering will be even better)? I got a PC near my ps2 if that could change something.

Should i get a Fat ps2 instead? thanks!

FAT Ps2's definitely give you more options with what you can do with them.... The biggest advantage of the FAT Ps2's is that you can install a HD right into it. Running games from USB advance has a TON of game capatability issues.... HD Loader or Toxic OS run more games, but you need a FAT PS2 and a HD installed to run both of those programs (plus a modchip to run Toxic OS). I would suggest a FAT PS2 with a flip-top to start out, then pick up a HD and load games that way later.... with a flip-top you can play burned/backup games in the meantime....

... as for running games direct from PC (via FTP), I haven't tried this but I've read that it can be done, maybe someone else can verify this..... Usually though people set up FTP networks just to load games to their HD.

    Hope that helps

Not all the games works, but most of them do. USB Advance has a compatiblility of 5,4% and HDLoader 72,7% so... You can always backup your game on ps2 hdd even you cannot play it. You can extract the image later.

go here http://www.hdloader.com.au/hardinstall thats the official web site on how to get HDLoader up and running on the ps2. with a modded ps2 you can run an elf file from the memory card but thats a whole nother thing. Theres a guide on the forum on how to get it a hdloader elf on your memory card or unless you could get a burnt copy of it.

I also dont know if Duo2 can run elfs. [An elf being a small file that emulates an official program]

well the DMS4 thing is true so you need a dms modchip to use its features. There are certain advantages to those chips too like certain patches for them that other things like HDLoader/Advance dont have. Well for the capping thing i dont really know but certain games on the hard drive can be "shrunken" almost to 3gigs for each game. if you calculate if the games werent "shrunken" then you could fit. 32 games and double if they are all shrunken to 2 gigs. Thats quite a bit of games. if the original size of the size of the hard disk is 130 gb then formatting the hard drive might take some space from it. you can get around 30 games onthe hdd but not all games are compatible with the hard drive. And a\nto all drives are compatibile.

http://ps2drives.x-pec.com/ this site you can search to see if your hard drive can work from others experience. With this list http://list.ps2hd.com/ you can search if a game is compatibile with the hdd or not It saves alot of time.
