I've been trying to read and work out as much of the procedures as I can to get my PS2 working with a HDD so I can make images of games and play off the HDD.
The PS2 I have is the older/fatter one, black, with an expansion slot at the back where I've attached the Network adapter/HDD. Model number says SCPH-35003 PAL. I believe it's a v4. Totally standard - no chips or mods.
Bought a network card off eBay, and after discovering that my Western Digital 160GB drive won't fit, I've ordered a 250GB Maxtor, which should arrive in 3-4 days.
Meanwhile, I've downloaded and tried to install the CD as well as DVD version of HD Loader, burning the image into CD-RW and DVD+RW discs (as I don't have normal CD-R or DVD-R discs - ordered some today anyway).
When I load the CDRW or DVD+RW into the PS2, it does nothing. Just sits on the main screen, where I have the Browser and System Configuration option.
I've currently taken an old Seagate 20GB hard disk, formatted it using WinHIIP 1.7.6, and then added images of a couple of games (that I made on the PC). The HDD/Network adaptor is fitted on the back fine, as far as I can see.
When I click Browser, it comes up with Disc Read Error message.
All it shows me is my Memory Card. But if I stick in a normal game DVD into the drive, it reads it fine, and loads up normally.
What am I missing/doing wrong ?
Just to mention again that my PS2 is not chipped, it's a standard v4 machine.
