Hey, is it possible for anybody to put the new socom maps onto a pc (that is possible) and then rip the socom II iso to the pc (that is also possible) and then integrate the new maps into the iso and then put that iso on the hdd or a dvd and play via swap trick/HDL/etc... and have the new maps work on LAN at least?

It would seem that all you would need to do is use an official HDD to load the three maps to and then use EXEcFTP or something and copy the maps to your PC...

make a new partition for them on you other HDD and copy to it... and use a patched version of SOCOM II

Don't the maps also come on some demo discs, eliminating the need for a sony HDD?

I believe that they install from the demo discs.... I'm not sure exactly how they install if they are in the proper format to copy from cdfs to pfs of a non sony drive.... The demo will only install the levels on a Sony drive...

Install, yes, but you can also copy the map files to a PC like anything else on a cd...

How about just ripping everything else off the dvd aside from what it required to install the maps, and creating an new iso from that? (under the understanding that trying to run anything else off the dvd's boot menu won't function.)

    Just a thought.

That's what I said in my original post. You rip socom, then the contents of the demo discs, then integrate the maps, make a new socom iso, and then put the iso on the HDD or a disc and play with them.

I'm actually not describing making a new Socom game disk iso. I'm talking about making an altered iso of the OPM magazine disk that has just enough data on it to install the maps.

I'd imagaine that you can't really just copy files into the socom iso and expect the game to work with them. Plus, the new patch prevents you from using a backed up disk with patched dnas so that would be a waste of time.

I'm just thinking of a way to get the maps around using a lot less bandwith for a full iso and without having to blow $10 on a magazine for just a lousy demo disk...
