Got it!! It is awesome, but what point should I use for power. So HDD gets good feed of power and PS2 Isn't bothered.

Got it!! It is awesome, but what point should I use for power. So HDD gets good feed of power and PS2 Isn't bothered.

use a multimeter and check the transistors. those should be good as I've seen some laser fixes piggy back off those for power. another source would be a USB port, but you wouldn't be able to use it for any devices while the HDD is powered up.
OK, thanks Bootleg, this is freaking cool![]()
Btw, fast shipping, wow!!

A 7805 regulator is a good idea.
But for my next 2 PS2 Slim with completely internal SATA HDL Kit and 2.5' 500 GB HD i would like to use a 78M05G regulator, which is already on the PS2 mainboard.
78M05 means output 5 V / 500 mA. That is enough. The most 2.5' harddrives uses the most power at spinup with 500 mA. Read/Write needs less power.
At the input of this regulator is the fuse PS13. If this Fuse is broken, the dvd drive motor is not working.
I believe, this fuse and 5 V regulator are only for the dvd drive.
Without the dvd drive it is the perfect power source for the harddrive and in Standby at this point is power off.
There is only one little problem. The fuse PS13 is 400 mA.
But i want to change it (or let it change) to 600 mA.
It is also possible to bridge it, but a bigger fuse is better.
ps. My dream is a PS2 Slim with 2x internal 2.5' HD. One for HD Loader and one for OpenUSBLoader![]()
Normally a fuse is chosen to have a current rating below the current value that could cause damage to some circuitry. This is because the real purpose of all fuses is to protect valuable circuitry from overload damage by letting a cheap replaceable fuse burn out instead.
So replacing a fuse by one with a higher current rating often means that you invite damage to more expensive circuitry.

The fuse PS13 is for the dvd drive motor. The fuse is on the input of the 78M05G regulator (5 V / 500 mA). I want to remove the dvd drive and put the sata hld kit and harddrive complete in the slim ps2 case.
The most USB 2.5 harddrives works with the power from one usb port (5 V / 500 mA including usb/ide or usb/sata adapter).
I want to grab the power for the harddrive from the 78M05G regulator behind the PS13 fuse.
The most 2.5 harddrives needs 500 mA at spinup. It is possible that the PS13 400 mA fuse will be broken. That is the reason for changing the fuse.
If my both PS2 v12/13 are modified i will post the results.
I could say, some of my favorite games do not work with HDLoader. And that's why I need a 2nd USB hard drive for games which will hopefully work with OpenUsbLoader.
But the main reason is, Im looking for what is technically feasible.
My PS2 Network Adapter SATA modification was initially a dream. Now it is real -> http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthre...281#post465281
The PS2 slim with 2 internal hard drives will probably remain a dream. Who knows ?
If i can't fit both harddrives in the PS2 Slim case, i can use the USB harddrive with the full power from the USB ports because i want to use the power for the sata hdloader harddrive from the 78M05G regulator behind the fuse PS13 on the mainboard.
